A celebration of Mahatma Gandhi's birthday was organized at the Sari Mutiara University on Oct. 2. Ambassador of India in Jakarta graced the occasion and gave the keynote address which was preceded by introductory remarks by Consul General Raghu Gururaj. There were speeches on the life and philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi by the Rector, Chairman of foundation, Head of private education and the Head of History Department at Brigjend Katamso School. Ambassador and the Chairman of foundation jointly inaugurated a bronze bust of Mahatma Gandhi which was placed prominently in the middle of this renowned University. The Ambassador also inaugurated an exhibition on the life and achievements of Mahatma Gandhi. More than 350 people attended the event which included the Consul Generals and diplomatic representatives of other countries, senior local government officials, academics, think-tanks, representatives of cultural organizations, senior members of PMI Indonesia, IEAM, Hindu Parishad, South Indian Muslim Association and students.
