The 73rd Independence Day of India was celebrated at the Consulate General of India in Medan on 15th August 2019. Consul General Shri Raghu Gururaj unfurled the Indian National Flag, which was followed by singing of National Anthem. Thereafter, Consul General read out Hon’ble President’s Address to the Nation delivered on the eve of Independence Day. The ceremony was attended by more than 300 members of Indian community, students from several schools and friends of India. The children and ladies of the Indian Expatriate Association of Medan and the Khalsa School gave cultural performances which also included group songs a short skit on the life of Mahatma Gandhi. This was followed by Indian refreshments.The event was attended by over 300 Indian citizens and people of Indian origin. The event also celebrated the 70th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between India & Indonesia and 150th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
